Hola familia y amigos,
Well this week was Semana Santa, or the Holy Week, where everyone basically leaves, they either go to visit family in other parts of Honduras, or go to the beach, and that´s about it. The members in my ward went to the temple near the end of the week. This week was a bit hard, but very interesting at the same time. Thursday through Sunday is when everyone generally leaves to the beach or home, and so our area felt like a ghost town, there were no buses, barely anyone in the street, and super quiet, it was weird, haha!
This week was interesting with what we were able to do. On Wed. I went on divisions with Elder Moore, he´s from Florida and he´s leaving this change. We went and taught some people and around 6:30pm we were out contacting when this guy told us that the family at that house wasn’t home, so we went and started talking with him. He had a whole bunch of questions about the church and then he invited us to eat, so we ate a bit and he and his sister and brother-in-law had more questions. We tried to teach Lesson one, but their questions were absolutely all over the place, and they wouldn’t let us teach! They went back and forth between so many points, first saying that church is important and we should find the true church, then saying us (those in a group) are what make a church, and it was just a big mess. He was super nice with us and we ended up leaving lessons 1, 2, and 3 with him. He wanted to keep talking all night and we didn’t leave until 9:15pm! It was extremely long and a huge mess, but it was definitely interesting!
Well we have found a couple more people to teach, but like I said, everyone was either out of town or visiting from somewhere else, but those we did find seem really interested. We contacted Sonia last Sunday and went back to teach her this week and she is really interested. She can’t read small letters very well so we took her a giant Bible and BoM. Imagine doing contacts with a giant Bible in your hands, it was awesome! Haha! Well we went and left the BoM with her before our appointment with her, and left her 3 Ne. 11, and she read it all before we got back to teach her, and she loved it! Then yesterday she went to church and took her son, and a super pilas member was with her all day at church and she loved church as well! We have already challenged her to baptism and she accepted, so we just have to teach her more and she´ll be ready!
We have also been teaching a black lady (about 40 years old) and she thinks everything is true as well but she just hasn’t received an answer yet. Before we started teaching we were talking and she asked me if I have or have had a girlfriend. I said no and I didn’t hear what she said but my comp told me later that she basically said, calmly, too bad I’m too old for you. That was the funniest thing I ever heard, haha!!
Well this Sunday we had another investigator go to church, he had been there since 7:30am in the morning! His friends told him to be there before 8. We went and taught him later and then he took us to a Filipino family to go teach. He loved the church and wants to learn more so it was super awesome to see that. Now that Semana Santa is done we should be able to find more people to teach and hopefully get some more baptisms and investigators!
