Oy! Que honda? haha
Hope everyone had a great week this past week, this week went by really fast for us. We are doing a lot better as a companionship and it’s just become a mess of fun haha. It’s been kind of slow with the work because we have been having trouble getting members to help us. A lot of them are scared to go with us or they never have time, so we are trying to see how we can help them come visit with us. It’s been like that for a while out here and we haven’t been finding a lot of people to teach either, a lot of the people we talk to are just meh. We did find some new people this week that we talked to and they seem really interested, one was a reference from another stake, Delma, we went over and she seemed really interested. The second visit she cooked us some chicken and rice, and that day my comp was kind of sick. He finally got sick from eating something here and we’ve been waiting to see how long it would take. Well she is one of those people that will listen but we aren’t sure how much she is going to progress just yet.
We found the other lady when we were trying to find Delma. Her name is Georgina and she is this really funny lady who loves laughing. She has a tiny little store and we left her a pamphlet and when we came back the next day and she had read it twice, so we basically reviewed it all and answered any questions that she had about it and we challenged her to baptism. When we came back 2 days later she had read what we left her in the Book of Mormon and she loved it, she prayed and felt a peaceful feeling and said that she wants to get baptized! Unfortunately she didn’t go to church this week so we are going to stop by and see why not, she told us that she was planning on it. She went to church before when she was 10 in Tegus, but she said that now that she is older she feels more ready and prepared. When we were talking during the first visit something caught her attention, about how people were looking for the truth but didn’t know where to find it. In Amos 8:11-12 it says a hunger and thirst for hearing the word of God, I asked her how she felt and she said ¨thirsty¨ when I heard that it made me super happy, haha! So anyway, she is looking to be very promising.
We also have a family that we are teaching, that for some reason also didn’t go to church yesterday, and we were kind of upset. They said they were going to go, but at this point who knows, we have an appointment with them tonight with the bishop so hopefully it will help with something. We have been teaching someone named Manuel, he is and older guy that Elder Porter and his trainer started teaching a while ago, but he never went to church. We walked by one day and he asked why we hadn’t stopped by to see him, so we visited him and ever since he has been going to church. He has been 8 Sundays at church! We had been trying to get him a baptismal date, until last week, after he went to Paola's baptism and finally decided to get baptized, this weekend! So we should have a baptism this weekend if everything goes well. There has been quite a bit of rain recently which is always nice. Hopefully this week we can get some new people to teach. It’s been hard recently but we have high hopes. Hope everything at home is going great and that everyone is having a great time!
